Showing Downloadable Files with [wpkin_downloads] (Pro)

The [wpkin_downloads] shortcode displays a list of downloadable files available to the customer based on their order. For digital product stores, this shortcode turns your custom Thank You page into a complete delivery page, no extra setup or plugins needed.

What It Displays

For each downloadable item in the order, the shortcode shows:

  • The product name
  • The download file name
  • A download link (if the order is in a state that permits downloads)

When Downloads Show

WooCommerce controls whether downloads are permitted based on order status. By default, downloads are available when the order status is:

  • Completed — Always shows download links
  • Processing — Shows download links if “Grant access to downloadable products after payment” is enabled in WooCommerce settings

If the order isn’t in a downloadable state, the shortcode will output nothing (or a message explaining that downloads aren’t yet available).

How to Use It

Add the shortcode to your custom download or Thank You page:

[wpkin_downloads]

Here’s a suggested layout for a digital product delivery page:

Thank you, [wpkin_first_name]! Your order is ready.

Order [wpkin_order_number] — [wpkin_order_created_date]

YOUR DOWNLOADS
[wpkin_downloads]

and quote your order number: [wpkin_order_number]

Combine with a Product Type Redirect

For the best experience, pair this shortcode with a Product Type Redirect rule (Pro) set to “Downloadable”. That way, customers who buy any downloadable product are automatically sent to this delivery page — while physical product buyers go somewhere else.

See Redirect by Product Type for how to set this up.

WooCommerce Download Settings

To make sure downloads appear after checkout, check your WooCommerce settings:

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Downloadable products
  2. Make sure “Grant access to downloadable products after payment” is enabled

With this setting on, downloads become available as soon as payment is received — even before the order status changes to Completed.

Pro tip: A dedicated download delivery page, rather than the default WooCommerce Thank You page, gives your digital product store a much more professional feel. Customers arrive on a clean, branded page with their files ready to download, rather than a cluttered default order page.
