System Requirements
ThankRedirect has a small set of requirements to run correctly. Most modern WordPress sites meet these already — but it’s worth checking before you install.
Minimum Requirements
| Component | Minimum Version |
|---|---|
| WordPress | 6.2 or higher |
| WooCommerce | 7.9.0 or higher |
| PHP | 7.3 or higher |
WooCommerce Is Required
ThankRedirect is a WooCommerce extension — it only works when WooCommerce is installed and activated on the same site. If WooCommerce is missing or deactivated, ThankRedirect will display a notice in your WordPress admin and will not process any redirects.
How to Check Your Versions
Check WordPress Version
Go to Dashboard → Updates in your WordPress admin. Your current WordPress version is shown at the top of the page.
Check WooCommerce Version
Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and find WooCommerce in the list. The version number is shown beneath the plugin name.
Check PHP Version
Go to Tools → Site Health → Info → Server. Look for the PHP version field. Alternatively, your hosting control panel (cPanel, Plesk, etc.) will show the PHP version in use.
What Happens If Requirements Are Not Met
ThankRedirect checks for these requirements automatically when it loads:
- If PHP is below 7.3, the plugin will not initialise and will show an admin notice with instructions
- If WooCommerce is not installed, a notice will appear asking you to install WooCommerce first
- If WooCommerce is below 7.9.0, a notice will ask you to update WooCommerce
In all these cases, no redirect rules will fire until the requirement is resolved.
Recommended Environment
For the best experience, especially when using Pro features like analytics integrations and the React-based settings interface, we recommend:
- PHP 8.0 or higher — for better performance
- A modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari (latest version) for the admin settings interface
- WooCommerce latest version — keeps compatibility and ensures all order hooks fire correctly
Pro tip: If you’re on shared hosting and unsure about your PHP version, contact your hosting provider and ask them to set PHP to 8.0 or 8.1. It’s usually a one-click change in your hosting control panel and will improve the performance of your entire WordPress site.
