URL Personalisation with Dynamic Parameters (Pro)

URL personalisation lets you include live order data directly inside your redirect URL, so each customer lands on a page that already knows who they are and what they bought. This is a Pro feature that opens up powerful integrations with landing page tools, CRMs, and personalised content platforms.

What Are Dynamic Parameters?

Dynamic parameters are placeholders you put inside your redirect URL. When the redirect fires, ThankRedirect replaces each placeholder with real data from the customer’s order.

For example, a URL like this:

https://yourstore.com/thank-you?name=[billing_first_name]&total=[order_total]

…becomes this for a customer named Sarah who spent £89:

https://yourstore.com/thank-you?name=Sarah&total=89.00

Available Placeholders

Placeholder Replaced With
[order_number]The WooCommerce order number
[billing_first_name]Customer’s first name
[billing_last_name]Customer’s last name
[billing_email]Customer’s email address
[order_total]Total order amount (numeric)
[payment_method]Payment method title (e.g., “PayPal”)
[shipping_method]Shipping method used
[product_names]Comma-separated list of product names in order

Enabling URL Personalisation

  1. Go to ThankRedirect in your WordPress admin
  2. Find the URL Personalisation section
  3. Toggle it on
  4. Enter your redirect URL with placeholders in the appropriate redirect rule field (global, product, category, etc.)
  5. Save your settings

Real-World Examples

Personalised Landing Page Greeting

Use a landing page builder (like Elementor, Beaver Builder, or a dedicated funnel tool) that reads URL parameters to personalise the page content:

https://yourstore.com/welcome?fname=[billing_first_name]&order=[order_number]

CRM or Email Platform Integration

Pass the customer’s email and order value to a CRM or marketing tool via a webhook URL:

https://hooks.zapier.com/hooks/catch/xyz/?email=[billing_email]&value=[order_total]

Personalised Video Message

Redirect customers to a video page where a script uses the URL parameter to display their name on screen:

https://yourstore.com/welcome-video?name=[billing_first_name]

Adding Custom Placeholders (Developer Feature)

Developers can add their own custom placeholders using the wpkin_thankyou_url_placeholders filter. See Adding Custom URL Placeholders in the Developer Resources section.

Pro tip: URL personalisation works with any redirect rule: global, product, category, and all Pro rules. You can use different personalised URLs for different redirect rules, making each post-purchase experience unique and context-aware.
