Flip Box Not Showing on Frontend: Troubleshooting
If your flip box isn’t showing up on your website’s frontend, don’t worry — this is usually caused by one of a small number of common issues, all of which are easy to fix. Follow this checklist from top to bottom until you find the cause.
Step 1: Confirm the Plugin Is Active
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in your WordPress admin.
- Look for Flipbox – Awesome Flip Boxes Image Overlay.
- Make sure its status is Active (not Inactive or Deactivated).
- If it’s not active, click Activate.
Step 2: Check the Shortcode ID
The most common cause of a blank flip box is an incorrect shortcode ID.
- Go to Flipbox in the admin sidebar.
- On the home screen, note the ID number of the flip box you want to display.
- On your page, confirm the shortcode matches:
[oxilab_flip_box id="X"]— where X is the correct ID. - If the ID is wrong, update the shortcode on your page.
Step 3: Check if the Flip Box Has Been Deactivated
A flip box that has been deactivated won’t show any content on the frontend — even with the correct shortcode.
- Go to Flipbox in the admin sidebar.
- Find the flip box in question.
- Check its status. If it has been deactivated, reactivate it.
Step 4: Confirm the Flip Box Has Items
A flip box with no items (cards) added to it will render as blank or invisible.
- Open the flip box in the Flipbox editor.
- Check the Items section — is there at least one item with front content added?
- If empty, add at least one item with a title or description and save.
Step 5: Check for a Page Caching Issue
If you recently made changes that aren’t appearing, your caching plugin may be serving an old version of the page.
- Go to your caching plugin settings (WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, etc.).
- Clear / Purge the cache.
- Reload the page on the frontend.
Alternatively, try viewing the page in an Incognito / Private window to bypass any browser cache.
Step 6: Check for JavaScript Errors
Some flip box styles require JavaScript to function. A JavaScript conflict with another plugin or theme can prevent the flip box from rendering.
- Open your website in a browser.
- Right-click → Inspect → click the Console tab.
- Look for any red error messages.
- If you see errors, they may point to a conflicting plugin or theme script.
- Try deactivating other plugins one by one to identify the conflict.
Step 7: Check If the Plugin’s CSS Is Loading
If the flip box structure appears (as raw text or a broken layout) but looks completely unstyled, the plugin’s CSS may not be loading.
- Right-click the page → View Page Source.
- Search for
flip-box-addonsoroxi-addonsto check if the CSS files are referenced in the page source. - If the CSS links are missing, try deactivating caching or optimization plugins that might be stripping plugin stylesheets.
Step 8: Test with a Default Theme
Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme (Twenty Twenty-Four, etc.) and check if the flip box displays correctly. If it does, the issue is with your current theme. Contact your theme developer or check the theme’s documentation for CSS conflicts.
