How to Create a New Flip Box
Creating a new flip box in WordPress takes just a few clicks. The Flipbox plugin gives you a clean creation workflow where you pick a name, choose a starting layout, and jump straight into editing your content and design.
Step 1: Go to the Flipbox Dashboard
- Log in to your WordPress admin.
- Click Flipbox in the left sidebar.
- You’ll land on the Flipbox home screen showing all your existing flip boxes.
Step 2: Click “Create New”
Click the Create New button at the top of the page. A dialog box will pop up.
Step 3: Name Your Flip Box
In the Name field, give your flip box a descriptive name. This name is only visible to you in the admin — it won’t appear on your website. Good names help you stay organized, especially when you have multiple flip boxes.
Examples of good names:
- “Homepage Services Section”
- “Team Members, About Page”
- “Pricing Features”
Step 4: Choose a Starting Layout
You’ll see layout options to choose from. These determine the initial visual structure of your flip box. Don’t overthink this — you can customize every detail afterward. Just pick the layout that feels closest to what you have in mind.
Step 5: Click Create
Click the Create (or Submit) button. The plugin will set up your new flip box and take you straight to the editor.
Step 6: Start Editing
You’re now in the Flipbox editor. Here you can:
- Add content items (cards) with front and back content
- Customize colors, fonts, sizes, and more
- Set animations
- Preview your flip box live
See the Understanding the Flipbox Editor doc for a full walkthrough of the editor interface.
What Happens Behind the Scenes
When you create a new flip box, the plugin stores it in your WordPress database with a unique ID. That ID is used in the shortcode — for example [oxilab_flip_box id="1"]. Each flip box you create gets its own unique ID, so you can use multiple flip boxes on different pages independently.
How Many Flip Boxes Can You Create?
There’s no limit. You can create as many flip boxes as you need — one per page, one per section, or reuse the same flip box on multiple pages. Each one is stored and managed separately.
Pro Tip: Use clear, descriptive names when creating flip boxes. If you end up with 10 or 20 of them, you’ll thank yourself later for naming them well instead of leaving them as “Flip Box 1”, “Flip Box 2”, etc.
Importing a Template Instead
Don’t want to start from scratch? The Flipbox plugin also includes a template import feature. Click the Import button on the home screen to browse and import ready-made flip box designs. You can then customize the imported template to fit your needs.
