How to Delete or Deactivate a Flip Box
If you no longer need a flip box — or want to temporarily hide one — the Flipbox plugin gives you a straightforward way to deactivate or delete it. This guide explains both options and what to expect.
Option 1: Deactivate a Flip Box (Recommended for Temporary Removal)
Deactivating a flip box hides it from your website without permanently deleting it. The flip box data, content, and settings are all preserved — you can reactivate it at any time.
How to Deactivate
- Go to Flipbox in your WordPress admin sidebar.
- Find the flip box you want to deactivate in the list.
- Click the Deactivate (or delete/shortcode-deactivate) option in the row actions.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Once deactivated, the shortcode for that flip box will no longer render any content on your pages. The shortcode itself can stay in your page — it just won’t output anything visible until you reactivate the flip box.
Option 2: Delete a Flip Box (Permanent)
Deleting a flip box permanently removes it and all its data from your database. This cannot be undone.
How to Delete
- Go to Flipbox in your WordPress admin sidebar.
- Find the flip box you want to delete.
- Click the Delete option in the row.
- A confirmation prompt will appear — confirm the deletion.
Warning: Deleting a flip box is permanent. All items, content, and settings for that flip box will be removed from the database. There is no trash or undo. Before deleting, make sure you truly no longer need it.
What Happens to the Shortcode After Deletion?
If you delete a flip box, any shortcode referencing its ID (e.g., [oxilab_flip_box id="5"]) will silently output nothing on your page — it won’t cause an error, but the flip box section will simply disappear.
After deleting a flip box, you should also:
- Remove the shortcode from any pages or posts where it was used
- Remove the Elementor widget or WordPress widget instance, if applicable
How to Find Which Pages Use a Specific Flip Box
Before deleting, it’s a good idea to check where the flip box is being used. You can do a quick search in WordPress:
- Note the ID of the flip box you want to delete (visible on the Flipbox home screen)
- Use the WordPress block editor search, or a plugin like “Search Regex”, to search for the shortcode ID across all your pages and posts
- Remove the shortcode from any pages you find
Pro Tip: If you’re not sure whether a flip box is still in use, deactivate it first and leave it for a week. If no one reports a broken section on your site, it’s safe to delete.
