Using Image Hover Effects as a WordPress Widget
Image Hover Effects Ultimate includes a dedicated WordPress Widget so you can add hover effect galleries to any widget area (sidebars, footers, headers) without touching page content or writing shortcodes.
Using the Gutenberg block editor? Image Hover Effects now has a native Gutenberg Block with live preview in the editor canvas. See that doc for the block editor workflow.
When to Use the Widget
- Displaying a small image gallery in your sidebar
- Adding a promotional banner with hover effect in the footer
- Showcasing featured products or portfolio items in a sidebar
- Any theme widget area where standard page content can’t reach
How to Add the Widget
- Go to Appearance → Widgets in your WordPress admin.
- Find the widget area where you want to add the hover effect (e.g., “Primary Sidebar” or “Footer Widget 1”).
- Click Add a Widget and search for “Image Hover Effects Ultimate”.
- Click the widget to add it to your chosen widget area.
- In the widget settings, enter the Style ID of the hover effect you want to display. Find the ID in the Image Hover Ultimate → Shortcode List in your admin.
- Optionally set a Widget Title to label the widget area.
- Click Update.
Tips for Widget Use
- 🖼️ Keep it simple: Widget areas are narrow. Use 1-column layouts with small, square images for best results.
- 🔢 Limit image count: Show 3–6 images max in a widget to avoid making the sidebar too long.
- 📐 Use Square effect type: Square hover effects fit naturally in narrow widget columns.
